Training Your Cat to Walk on a Leash

Training Your Cat to Walk on a Leash

This is how I taught my cat Clover to walk on a leash. If you follow my advice, and with a little bit of time and love, your cat can walk on a leash too.

Get a good cat harness. Once you have a cat harness, put it on upside down, otherwise they can slip out of it. Before you start walking your cat on a leash, let them get used to it. Once your cat is used to it, walk in your backyard. After that you can start walking your cat in your neighborhood to get your cat used to being in public.

It would be a good idea to always have a cat backpack when you are in public because they can get scared and being contained make cats feel better. I would recommend bringing a water bowl with you in case your cat gets thirsty. If you follow these steps correctly, soon you`ll have a hiking cat!
